Reflexology
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, non-invasive therapy based on the principle that specific points on the feet (and sometimes hands) correspond to different systems and organs within the body.
Using precise thumb and finger techniques, I apply gentle pressure to these reflex points, encouraging a sense of balance and supporting the body’s natural processes. The treatment itself is calm, unhurried, and designed to allow both body and mind to switch off.
How Reflexology Works
Reflexology is based on the idea that the body is reflected, or “mapped”, within the feet.
Different areas of the feet correspond to specific organs, systems and structures. For example, the toes are generally associated with the head and neck, the arch of the foot reflects areas such as the digestive system, and the heel relates more to the lower body, including the pelvis.
During a treatment, I work across these mapped areas using gentle, precise techniques. Rather than focusing on one isolated part of the body, reflexology involves treating the feet as a whole, supporting the body in a balanced and integrated way.
Some areas may feel more sensitive than others. This can simply reflect where the body may be holding tension at that time and helps guide the focus of the treatment, always working within your comfort.
The Benefits of Reflexology
In today’s busy world, it can be difficult to fully relax. Many people find themselves constantly “switched on”, which can affect both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Reflexology encourages a deep state of relaxation, which is an important part of supporting the body’s natural ability to rest and restore.
Many clients choose reflexology to:
-
Support relaxation and reduce feelings of stress
-
Encourage better sleep
-
Promote a sense of calm and emotional balance
-
Help them feel more grounded and connected
-
Create time and space to switch off from daily pressures
Clients often describe feeling calmer, more settled and deeply relaxed following treatment.
A Whole-Body Approach
Although the treatment is carried out on the feet, reflexology takes a whole-body approach.
By working across all areas of the feet, the treatment supports the body in a general and balanced way, rather than focusing on a single symptom or concern. This makes it particularly beneficial if you are feeling overwhelmed, run down, or simply not quite yourself.
It offers a gentle way to reconnect with your body and create a sense of overall wellbeing.
Supporting the Nervous System
One of the key benefits of reflexology is its ability to support the body’s natural relaxation response.
When we are under stress, the body can remain in a heightened state of alertness. Reflexology encourages a shift into a more relaxed state, allowing the body to slow down and reset.
Many clients find that this not only helps them feel more relaxed in the moment, but also supports improved sleep and a greater sense of balance over time.
How I Support You
Your reflexology session begins with a full consultation, giving us time to explore your health, lifestyle and what you would like support with.
Each treatment is then tailored to you. I adapt pressure, pace and focus areas according to your comfort, creating a calm and restorative experience where you can fully relax.
My aim is to provide a supportive, unhurried space where you feel listened to, at ease, and able to switch off from the demands of everyday life.
A Moment to Pause
Reflexology is not just about the feet, it is about creating space.
Space to relax.
Space to breathe.
Space to reset.
Whether you are feeling stressed, tired, or simply in need of time for yourself, reflexology offers a gentle and supportive way to restore a sense of calm and balance.
What to Expect at Your First Reflexology Appointment
If you’ve not had reflexology before, it’s completely natural to feel unsure of what to expect. My aim is to make your first visit as comfortable, relaxed and informative as possible.
Before Your Treatment
Your appointment will begin with a full consultation. This gives us time to talk through your health, lifestyle, and what you would like support with.
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, just come as you are. This conversation helps me tailor your treatment safely and appropriately to you.
During Your Treatment
You will be invited to lie comfortably on the treatment couch, fully clothed, with only your shoes and socks removed.
The treatment itself is calm and unhurried. I use gentle, precise techniques on the feet, working across different areas in a way that encourages relaxation and balance.
Many clients find they relax very quickly, and it’s not uncommon to drift off during the session.
If at any point you feel uncomfortable, pressure can be adjusted, your comfort is always my priority.
After Your Treatment
At the end of your session, I will give you a few moments to come round gently before getting up.
Most clients feel relaxed, calm and more settled afterwards. Occasionally, you may feel slightly tired, which is a natural response to deep relaxation.
It can be helpful to take things gently for the rest of the day and stay well hydrated.
Ongoing Treatments
If you would like ongoing support, we can discuss a treatment plan that suits you.
Some clients choose occasional sessions, while others begin with weekly or fortnightly treatments before moving to monthly maintenance.
There is no pressure, this is entirely your choice and guided by what feels right for you.
A Calm, Supportive Experience
My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable, listened to and able to fully switch off.
Whether this is your first experience of reflexology or something you return to regularly, you will be supported every step of the way.
